Required Internship/Work Experience Overview
All NAF students must complete a work experience or internship to earn NAFTrack Certification.
Eligibility Timeline
• Suggested to begin after completing 9th grade
• Must be completed by spring break of senior year
Hour Requirement
• 80 total hours
• Paid or unpaid experiences are accepted
• NAF hours do NOT count toward BUSD Service Hours, and BUSD Service Hours do NOT count toward NAF hours
Before You Start
• Review the Student Future Ready Skills rubric and complete the pre‑reflection
• Review digital portfolio requirements and a sample portfolio
• Set up a method for tracking hours
While You Are Working
• Track your hours carefully
• Actively work to improve your Future Ready Skills
• Collect evidence of your experience, such as:
– Photos of you at work (with supervisor approval)
– Documents, spreadsheets, slides, or other work samples you helped create
After Completing 80 Hours
- Fill out the NAF Internship Data Form
- Your supervisor will complete the NAF Supervisor Assessment digitally. The Digital Assessment will be emailed to your Supervisor by NAF.

- Complete the post Future Ready Skills self‑reflection
- Write the Work Experience/Internship Reflection in complete paragraphs
- Upload all required materials to your digital portfolio
